Being Human

Is it time we backed off all the negative critique of each other and realize that we are all human beings? What comes in the “human package” from birth is a thing called, “imperfection.” Imperfection is the only negative for the human race but, oh my, is it a ton of a load to carry! How many times have you gotten a paper cut from opening a letter? Or, if you like to build things, smashed your thumb with a hammer? Tripped on the edge of a rug going from living room to the bathroom or stumbled while carrying groceries?

I’m not mentioning things like deciding to try taking turns on a motorcycle at seventy miles per hour. Nah, humanity is prone to screwing up, falling down, or thinking sideways. We all do it so why do we criticize others for doing the same things we do?

I’ve spent my life, after Vietnam, wondering why we kill one another. War is a heavy load to carry once you’re done killing and have to come home to friends and family. Suddenly you find yourself separate as you realize that you love the type of people that you just finished killing. Whoops, doesn’t cut it. The difference in geography matters not a wit.

Of course, and here is my release from what I just wrote, we are imperfect but there are laws written that tell us what we should and should not do. Oddly, people don’t want to read those laws but that doesn’t matter as they were written so far in the past that they are now considered impractical and even archaic. The ten commandments are what I speak of but later on in the book they are written in is that thing about being forgiven simply because we are imperfect. Sounds to good to be true, huh? Well, it is there in black and white is is older even than I am; older by a whole lot than I. You see, history is something we consider to be ours but it isn’t ours. History is much more than us. It is eternal whether we go forwards or backwards. A timeline with no end either way, north or south, east or west. This is what we are on and this is a thing that should be remembered before saying another of us is a fool.
