As It Goes

Well, I have now, two macs. I have an old late 2014 iMac which A.I. and I recently got running again and this one, a Mac Mini. For this one I moved the operating system to a Crucial 4 TB ssd and the computer runs from that ssd freeing up tons of space on the hard drive of this Mac Mini.

I no sooner got this accomplished than my HP laptop went south on me. I use a laptop to be mobile and need it for programming of websites. I needed a new laptop and didn’t want to pay almost 2 grand for one that would meet my needs. Working with servers can take a lot of RAM.

I went Amazon shopping for deals but found only a few that would save a little money but even with the savings I couldn’t replace the HP with just a run of the mill computer. Then, I discovered a company which is fairly new to the scene called, Nimo. I looked at their prices and was aghast at how low they were. I figured, something has to be wrong here. That attractive discount, however, had me by the neck so I wrote to their support and asked them what gives. The answer was that they wanted to get moving in the market so were offering unbelievable discounts on there machines. Ryzen 7 and 9 they had and I love Ryzen as it is faster than Intel in benchmarks.

After considering this for about one week I went for one that had the Ryzen 7 8745 chip set. It is fast and I got the 17.3 inch laptop. I got it within twenty-four hours of ordering and had to sign for it. I thought that was exceptional as most all one buys at Amazon sits on the front porch until you find it there. Great screen on that laptop also. Backlit keyboard which is a must for these old eyes. The old HP had no backlit keyboard and that was part of the reason I went for the Nimo.

I am well pleased with the laptop as of this writing but I’ve had it for only three days so we will see if it comes up with bugs or not. The wonder of it is that it comes with a 90 day trial period in which it can be sent back for replacement or full refund. That is, to me, a rarity in purchasing any computer and was a major factor in my taking a flier and purchasing it. It runs programs and games like there is no tomorrow and is far faster than the old HP ever was. In the market? Give Nimo a shout out and see what you think. Is it odd that I now have six computers?
